Mineral Composition of the Conway Granite in New Hampshire

Compositional data of biotite, plagioclase, and perthitic feldspar are presented which support in part earlier studies by Gaudette and Bothner (1971), Foland and others (1971), Armstrong and Stump (1971), and Liese (1968). These data consist of: (1) general similarity of major element concentrations; (2) specific systematic variation of total Fe:Mg ratios in biotite; (3) reciprocal variation of Ba and Be in the Merrymeeting stock; and (4) evidence indicating that the western half of the White Mountain batholith represents the latest stage of fractionation.
