The approximate position of the Frasnian-Famennian (Late Devonian) boundary is determined within the Foreknobs Formation along the Allegheny Front in Maryland and West Virginia by utilizing the time ranges of the articulate brachiopods Athryis angelica Hall, Cyrtospirifer sulcifer (Hall), and members of the Atrypidae.
