Negotiation, decision making and deception detection are tightly coupled in all aspects of life. Negotiations and decision making will flounder to the extent that parties are untruthful or their information is invalid. Deception includes statements that mislead, are fabrications that include misdirection and bluffs and also omissions, and concealment of information in addition to outright lying. Ferreting out deception is therefore essential to successful negotiating and decision making.
