A coalition of environmental groups and a former government official in charge of leading the recovery of the Mexican wolf sued the Obama administration today in an attempt to force the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to update its decades-old recovery plan for the highly endangered species. "The opportunity to recover the Mexican gray wolf is slipping away due to genetic problems and inadequate management policies, but the government still hasn't created the basic recovery blueprint that the law requires," Earthjustice attorney Timothy Preso said in a statement. He is representing Defenders of Wildlife, the Center for Biological Diversity, retired FWS Mexican Wolf Recovery Coordinator David Parsons and a pair of wolf breeding centers.
