A Los Angeles pilot program will help fight drought by installing computerized systems inrnresidential homes to capture stormwater and put it to use.rnCity and county officials joined up with a nonprofit and an engineering firm to unveil thernStormCatcher system at Carrie Wassenaar's North Hollywood home. The system capturesrnwater from her roof and directs it to a 1,300-gallon cistern in her backyard, from whichrnnonpotable water can be drawn to use for lawn watering or other things. The $25,000 systemrncan be monitored and controlled from an iPad.
