Employee union sees 'contempt' in GOP budget request

A government employee union is accusing House Republicans of treating federal workers with "contempt and derision" in their latest budget proposal. The budget blueprint for 2016 unveiled today by Budget Chairman Tom Price (R-Ga.) aims to slash $5.5 trillion in government spending, in part by taking aim at federal employees' benefits (see related story). "Instead of focusing on creating new jobs and lifting more Americans out of poverty, the House leadership has proposed a budget that does exactly the opposite by slashing the compensation and jobs of hard-working federal employees," said American Federation of Government Employees National President J.
