Secretary of State John Kerry spoke out yesterday against Florida's alleged ban on using the terms "climate change" and "global warming." Earlier this week, news surfaced that state officials in Florida had been barred from using those terms, and Kerry said officials were ignoring scientific facts. "Now, folks, we literally do not have the time to waste debating whether we can say 'climate change,'" said Kerry. "Because no matter how much people want to bury their heads in the sand, it will not alter the fact that 97 percent of peer-reviewed climate studies confirm that climate change is happening and that human activity is largely responsible." Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R), who is a skeptic of climate science, has denied claims that he banned officials from using the words "climate change" and "global warming" (Dina Cappiello, AP/Houston Chronicle, March 12).
