Judges reject challenges to EPA 'solid waste' rule

Federal judges yesterday rejected a bid by environmentalists to force U.S. EPA to subject the burning of used tires, oil and other materials to more stringent air pollution control measures. The Sierra Club and other groups were challenging a 2013 EPA regulation that defined which substances do not qualify as a "solid waste" under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, or RCRA.
