In the ongoing trial over the armed occupation of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, a sheriff has said he wasn't given adequate warning that authorities were planning to arrest leader Ammon Bundy when he was on his way to a neighboring community. But Sheriff Dave Ward said, speaking to attorney Marcus Mumford, that he had hoped for Bundy's arrest. Bundy was arrested Jan. 26 at a traffic stop, an incident that resulted in the fatal shooting by police of another occupier, Robert "LaVoy" Finicum.
