Rand Paul, Jim Gray spar over 'wild-ass theories,' coal

Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul and Democratic challenger Jim Gray sparred over regulation, the coal industry and the Supreme Court vacancy last night during their one and only debate of the cycle. Gray, the mayor of Lexington, Ky., finally got his chance to debate Paul, who has avoided the stage as part of a change in strategy from his 2010 Senate run, when he debated five times. Gray derided Paul, the ardent libertarian, for his "wild-ass theories and philosophies." Paul spent much of the debate linking Gray to President Obama and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, whom the mayor endorsed.
