G-20 can't agree on deadline to phase out subsidies

The world's wealthiest nations have failed to agree on a deadline to phase out hundreds of billions of dollars in government subsidies for fossil fuels. Energy ministers from the Group of 20 major economies met Wednesday and yesterday in Beijing in hopes of coming to an agreement. Last month, the Group of Seven wealthiest economies asked countries to eliminate "inefficient" fossil fuel subsidies by 2025. Campaigners say the subsidies are moving the world toward devastating climate change effects.
