A coalition of electric utility and environmental organizations launched a new initiative today aimed at boosting federal research and development efforts for new zero-carbon technology. The Carbon-Free Technology Initiative has the backing of the Nuclear Energy Institute, the Edison Electric Institute, the Clean Air Task Force, ClearPath Action, the Bipartisan Policy Center and others. Its goals include boosting advances in nuclear technology, advanced solar and wind energy systems, longduration energy storage, super hot rock geothermal energy, carbon capture, and other initiatives in very early stages of development.
