Georgia is once again king of the nation's pecan crop, two years after Hurricane Michael wiped out much of the state's production. The most recent crop reports from the U.S. Department of Agriculture show Georgia doubled its production in 2020 to 142 million pounds, ending a short stint as No. 2 to New Mexico. A combination of good tree breeding and good luck has helped the state bounce back, according to the industry.
