The Supreme Court will not weigh in on whether conservation groups can get involved in a legal battle overpublic roads running through federally controlled lands.Attorneys for the Trump administration had asked the high court to find that the Southern Utah WildernessAlliance and Wilderness Society cannot intervene in a 2008 lawsuit from Kane County, Utah, and the BeehiveState laying claim to rights of way along thousands of miles of roads, cow paths and two-track paths located onfederal lands.The conservation groups have argued that they should have a say in the roads dispute, which had been close toa settlement, because of the possibility of environmental impacts from a potential uptick in traffic (Greenwire,Aug. 5, 2020).
