D.C. mayor urges Bernhardt to block inauguration protests

This story was updated at 3:17 p.m. EST.Hoping to stave off more violence, District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser yesterday asked Interior SecretaryDavid Bernhardt to cancel permits for all large pre-inauguration gatherings planned on federal property in thenext two weeks.Citing the possibility of more rioting by "domestic terrorists," Bowser said the National Park Service should notallow any First Amendment protests or demonstrations planned from today through Jan. 24.
