摘要

Interior Secretary David Bernhardt revealed today that he has granted historic status to Chicago's Wrigley Field, a site co-owned by prominent donors to President Trump's failed reelection bid. The Interior Department announced it would designate the Chicago baseball stadium as a National Historic Landmark, pointing to the site's prominent role in the histories of both professional sports and Chicago. "The historical significance of Wrigley Field is interwoven into our nation's story and a key part of what has become America's beloved pastime for over a century," Bernhardt said about the site, which opened in 1914 and became home to the Chicago Cubs baseball team in 1916. "It is with great enthusiasm that I designate this iconic national treasure, the site of many legendary events, innovations and traditions in baseball history, as a National Historic Landmark." According to the National Park Service, there are about 2,600 historic landmarks including buildings, sites and objects. Bernhardt designated the site in a Sept. 17 proclamation.
