The Eden Project, Cornwall's acclaimed eco-centre, has teamed up with EGS Energy to create the country's first geothermal power plant. Planned for the vast former clay pit near St Austell, the plant would draw heat from the granite rock strata, via deep boreholes.rn"It's a pioneering scheme that will give Eden and the national grid as much as 3MWe a year of independent power without burning fossil fuels," says an enthusiastic Tim Smit, Eden's Chief Executive.
