Apple has introduced its Power Mac G5 desk-top line featuring a 2.5-GHz, dual-core PowerPC G5 processor, new PCI Express architecture and higher performance graphics options including NVIDIA'S Quadro FX 4500. The dual-core technology puts two processors on one chip, with each processor allocated 1MB of L2 cache. The result is twice the computing power in the same space. Apple's top-of-the-line desktop, the Power Mac G5 Quad features two dual-core processors and delivers big time in performance. The machine has four processors, four 128-bit velocity engines and eight graphics processing units. The speed increase on any computing work that can be broken up into parallel processing is exponential.
