Some companies print mail, and others "do" mail. Executive Mailing Service (EMS), Palos Hills, IL, definitely does mail—a lot of it. The company, which provides turnkey lettershop production services, makes daily shipments of Standard Class mail to all U.S. Postal Service Bulk Mail Centers in 21 major cities and more than 300 USPS Sectional Center Facilities. In fact, EMS passed a milestone this year, producing one billion feet of direct mail.That's the equivalent of 2 billion 4x6″ postcards—enough paper to cover 189,000 miles and wrap around the equator more than 7 1/2 times. High volume like that requires high speed output. And with the help of four IBM Infoprint 4100 continuous roll printers, EMS hit the billion mark two years ahead of schedule.
