摘要

In this article we have reviewed the ionospheric effects on GNSS satellite signals, how these can be modeled and mitigated, and how they are related to solar activity and the number of sun-spots. We have also described how sudden eruptions of the sun can cause increased ionospheric activity and how these events are often correlated with a high sunspot number. Some examples of consequences for GNSS users during the last solar high have been provided, and we have evaluated the predictions for the next solar high and possible consequences for GNSS users.
