Buenos Aires cancels AGBA private water contract

Buenos Aires province on July 12 canceled the contract of Aguas del Gran Buenos Aires after its prolonged failure to meet investment plans for expanding and upgrading services. Bilbao is a minority shareholder along with Dragados. AGBA is a water and sewerage concessionaire which is majority-owned by Italy's Impreglio and run by Spain's Aguas de Bilbao Bizkaia. The decision "was taken as a guarantee for the people that water and sewer services will be maintained and expanded," Buenos Aires Governor Felipe Sola said after signing a decree revoking the contract.
