HDMI 1.4 units advance to mainstream supply

Upbeat projections for enabled terminal devices, particularly flat-panel TVs, spur China makers of HDMI cable assemblies to continue boosting the 1.4 lineup. They offer mainly 1.4a units, with a few, providing 1.4b versions as well. The production focus will position the standard as the country's mainstream category by year-end, reducing the share of 1.3 units to 40 percent of output. In some companies, 1.4 interconnects now represent more than 70 percent of shipments.
