Helium mass transfer properties in molten E-glass during helium bubbling

摘要

Mass transfer coefficients of helium in molten E-glass during helium bubbling under various conditions were measured experimentally. They have been evaluated to be 4·03×10−5∼1·49×10−4 m/s. The measured mass transfer coefficients were compared with those calculated using relevant theoretical or empirical equations and it was found that they fit well with Levich theoretical model that deals with an internally circulating fluid moving in a continuous medium and the Calderbank empirical model. This result suggests that a comparatively large bubble generated by bubbling in molten glasses can be treated as an internally circulating fluid.
