Between the Chinese cities of Zaozhuang and Bengbu, a segment of the world's longest high-speed railway line linking the capital Beijing with Shanghai, a high-speed train has broken the world speed record for unmodified commercial trains. The train, CRH380A, hit a speed of 486.1kmh on Friday 3rd December last year, a new world record for operational trains. The Japanese Maglev (Magnetic Levitation) train still holds the absolute speed record, with a stunning 581kmh, but this train is experimental.
