The U.S. Chamber of Commerce took several swift kicks last week when four more companies announced plans to leave the conservative business lobbying group over disagreements about the Chamber's stance on federal climate policy. Following an announcement Sept. 22 from Pacific Gas & Electric that it would leave the U.S. Chamber due to the lobbying group's "extreme rhetoric and obstructionist tactics" regarding climate change, several more companies last week followed suit, including the New Mexico-based utility PNM Resources, Exelon Corporation, Nike and the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical company.
