Atomic meshing ―A new technology for optimized field development and rapid prospect generation

摘要

Atomic meshing can be used in conjunction with seismic images to produce a 3D space filling mesh which is suitable for semiautomated seismic interpretation techniques. The atomic mesh is a global solution that encompasses both horizon and fault information, and the interpretation of this mesh naturally produces a sealed framework. 2D examples indicate that the atomic mesh can also be used for flow simulation. We believe that atomic meshing shows promise for considerable improvement in productivity, consistency, and accuracy over conventional "line-by-line" interpretation methods. In addition this technology could be used in many other areas including rapid velocity model building and stratigraphic interpretation.
