In this study area, integrated interpretation of the 3D seismic volume and well-log data delineated several thin discrete stratigraphic features of Miocene age which are potential reservoirs.rnSeismic elastic inversion demonstrated that it is possible to define new areas for exploration and it adds reliable information to resolve reservoirs trapped stratigraphically.rnAll techniques applied in this project-including acoustic and elastic inversion, rock physics, and spectral decomposition-show the feasibility that the sands could have high acoustic and elastic impedances, although the seismic data do not have good resolution (maximum resolution is 120 ft). In spite of this, it was possible to recognize the main geobodies.rnIt was also possible to predict areas with an enhancedrnprobability of oil-bearing sands. The high correlation between some lithology anomalies and features obtained from spectral decomposition increased confidence in these results. However, we think that well core analysis and log correlation are still needed.rnThe integrated, but at the same time independent, approach of seismic data interpretation has improved the interpretation of the stratigraphy, sedimentary architecture, lithology prediction, and the net present value of the accumulation. Consequently, the drilling plan for new exploratory and development wells has been refined.
