In their recent contribution Rennie and Hansom (2011) have compared long-term Glacio-Isostatic Adjustment (GIA) and sea level change rates with recent tide gauge data for Scotland. These authors have hypothesised that there would be an increased rate of sea level change to the present day due to "isostatic slowdown" along Scottish coastlines. The 15 year tide gauge trends utilised in their study were then linearly forecast up to 2100. The focus of the paper concerns the diminished influence of isostatic uplift in Scotland and the relative sea level rise as measured by three main data types: selected tide gauges, corrected Continuous GPS and absolute gravity data taken from a variety of sources.
