The start of the new millennium promises to become a significant turning point for the textile industry. There is no doubt that we will be experiencing a wealth of textile innovations over the next decade, the likes of which have never been seen before. Textile products will be involved in more and more areas of daily life. Textiles are turning into fascinating high-tech products with entirely new benefit profiles. The High-Tex Stuttgart 2000 congress about the future, which was organised by the Denkendorf and Hohenstein textile research centres, and the Frankfurt trade fair avantex (a successful innovation forum for high-tech textiles) have illustrated the scope of these innovative developments.
