The development of the nonwoven industry starting in 1960 is closely connected with the development of chemical fibres during this first era. Until 1980, it was marked by mass production, especially in the field of hygiene products. From the point of view of production technology, this means a focus on increasing production speed and working width for a few methods, such as needle punching, spunbond and wetlaid processing.%Die Entwicklung der Vliesstoffindustrie ab 1960 ist in dieser ersten Epoche eng verbunden mit der Chemiefaserentwicklung und bis 1980 gekennzeichnet durch Mengenproduktion vor allem für Hygieneprodukte. Anlagentechnisch bedeutete dies vor allem eine Erhöhung der Produktionsgeschwindigkeit und der Arbeitsbreite bei wenigen Verfahrensprinzipien, wie Vernadeln, Spunbond- und Nassvliesherstellung.
