Insights into the world of nonwovens following the Industry Olympics in Milan

In Milan, 123,000 ITMA visitors from 147 countries were interested in the presentations of 1,691 exhibitors from 46 countries, displayed on 108,000 sq.m of exhibition space. The trade show also offered better quality, as exhibitors and visitors proved with their positive feedback. The technology group presented a number of innovations. One noteworthy item was the new through-air dryer neXdry by An-dritz Perfojet with a special U-shaped drum design and two drums, offering 96 % open space. The dryer is able to achieve speeds up to 1,200 m/min for spunlace drying. A new direct heat recovery system (neXecodry) increases drying capacity by approx. 15%. With the wetlace process, a combination of wetlaid and hydroentan-gling, flushable wipes can be produced and textured with a new patterning drum.
