摘要

A band-pass 'A '-type sandwich radome has been developed to operate at X-band. It is shown that the disc and grid' type frequency selective surface lends itself to being incorporated in radomes and in other applications where stability of the pass band, over wide incidence angles and with polarization, is essential in satisfying the requirement specifications. Software based on the equivalent circuit model is discussed and it is shown that there is good agreement between predictions and measurements. The co-polar and cross-polar radiation patterns are also presented. The on-axis transmission loss is found to be 0.5dB at the centre frequency, f_0. At frequency f_0 + 4 GHz the main lobe is attenuated by ~25dB. The in-band performance is comparable with a dielectric radome.
