Its express aim is not only to reconstruct them, but also to modernise and give them a new production in their present day settings. "Schloss Dieck", the centrepiece of at- traction, is supposed to function as an experimental field for landscape architecture with its design of a "Sea of Chinese reeds" which forms the setting for the planned horticulturural centre consisting of a permanent exposition, a museum and a research institute. Far from being a mere park maintenance initiative, the conception also involves an experimental approach to ecologically and historically sensitive modern design with a sophisticated tourist appeal.
