Spontane Pflanzen für urbane Freiflächen

In cities, many plantings soon become overgrown. Wild perennials, which do not require much maintenance, represent an alternative, but satisfactory concepts tailored to the climatic, edaphic and anthropogenic-pressure conditions of urban surroundings do not exist. A possible solution could be the use of ruder-al species. Although they increasingly awaken positive associations these days, they are still often regarded as worthless weeds and call forth vandalism. Berlin Technical University is therefore examining ruderal plant mixes that create an attractive effect. Since the ability of a community to regulate itself and thus minimise maintenance is an important aspect, it rejected combinations put together according to aesthetic considerations alone as they do not lead to stable results. The solution seemed to be to add a few highly competitive garden perennials capable of tolerating local conditions to attractive ruderals such as Artemisi-etea, Tanacetum vulgare or Solidago canadensis. Initial tests have proved the stability of such mixes.%Staudenpflanzungen sind ästhetisch ansprechend, jedoch nur mit viel Pflege in der Stadt zu erhalten.
