CME goes OTC forex

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and Reuters plan to bring institutional traders a new choice in global forex trading through a new electronic trading platform, FXMarketSpace. Set to launch in the first quarter of 2007, the 50/50 joint venture would be the world's first centrally-cleared, global foreign exchange marketplace. "This completes my vision," says Leo Melamed, CME chairman emeritus and chairman and CEO of Melamed & Associates. "This has been a dream of mine going back to the launch of financial futures in 1972 when no one believed they would be useful instruments.
