THE powers behind Young's Seafood are making no secret of suggestions that it intends to acquire new businesses when the right opportunities come along. The Grimsby based operation recently published its latest accounts covering a 78-week or 18 month period ended March 31st 2020 with a declaration that its wants to expand. Like most UK frozen and chilled food companies, Young's saw its sales rise last year as consumers turned increasingly to seafood scrambling to keep their freezers stocked up during what were uncertain times. Exactly how much sales increased may not be known until the next set of accounts are published. Young's is now part of the multi protein CapVest Partners owned Eight Fifty Food Group which includes the Karoo meat business. Last autumn Eight Fifty moved into Europe with the purchase of Alisa International GmbH which trades as Greenland Seafood and employs 600 people at sites in France and Germany.
