A temporary experimental site was operated at a top part of the Beskydy Mountains - 1,324 m a.s.l. - in the eastern part of the Czech Republic. From May 2003 till April 2004, samples of wet deposition were collected there. Mixed samples were analyzed monthly and parameters like pH, NO_3~-, NH_4~-, SO_4~(2-), F~-, Cl~-, Al~(3+), Ca~(2+), K~+, Mg~(2+), Mn~(2+), and Na~+ determined. Among dominant ions in the fog water there were sulphates, ammonium and nitrates. The canopy water budget method and the experimental one (Grunow-type fog gauge) were used to estimate the fog and cloud water input to forest. The relative contribution of horizontal (fog and cloud) water deposition of sulphur and nitrogen to through-fall deposition ranged approximately from 40% to 47%. This research brought a new knowledge about the signification of fog deposition.
