THE ICE CONDITIONS STUDY OF THE CASPIAN SEA DURING THE WINTER PERIODS 2008-2010 USING SATELLITE MONITORING DATA AND GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM

摘要

The paper provides information on geographical information system of the Northern Caspian Sea ice conditions. In the present work scope, cartographic database and geographic information system of the Caspian Sea ice conditions have been developed. This includes a technique of visual interpretation and subsequent classification of ice surfaces in the Caspian Sea. The analysis of temperature and ice conditions during the winter 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 has been performed. The article provides information on the ice distribution regularity across the water area depending on the topography of the sea bed. A dependency between the air temperature and the ice surface alteration has been derived.
