During the last years, significant progress has been made to develop atmospheric arc plasma technology for deposition of catalytic coatings. In the following, the plasma technology and properties of the obtained catalytic coatings will be discussed employing non-equilibrium plasma spraying of metal oxide powders. The goal of present study was to obtain catalytic coatings including the different phases of CuO with highly developed surface and assess the catalytic properties of the catalysts manufactured from deposited coatings. The mixture of Al, Al(OH)_3, CuO, pure Cu powders were used to deposit catalytic coatings with highly developed surface on a metallic sheet. The addition of Cr_2O_3 powder was used in chemically active coatings to improve selective oxidation of CO. Coatings were characterized using optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffractome-try (XRD) to investigate the microstructural features. Prepared multitubular catalytic monolithic reactors 30 mm of diameter and 90 mm of length were placed into the specific catalytic combustion reactor. The oxidation catalytic activity of coatings deposited from the supported pure copper is much stronger than coatings produced using the initial mixture of powder containing copper oxide.
