The sorption of heavy metals by river sediment is environmentally significant in that it affects the migration and transformation of heavy metals. Heavy metals (Cr, Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn) sorption experiments were conducted to define kinetics parameters and selectivity sequence for eight sediments collected from a typical East China river.
