Security Assistance

Iran does not get any security assistance from the West, but depends mostly on Russia and China for training and technical expertise. Since most of Iran's weapons come from non-conventional sources, the Iranians also depend on the Chinese, the Russians, and East Europeans for basic and advanced military training. Iran has also been receiving military assistance from Libya, Syria, and Pakistan. North Korea, one of thernarms suppliers, has reportedly sent more than 300 military advisers to Iran. The Iranians, in turn, have sent their pilots to North Korea for training on Soviet-and Chinese-designed MiG fighters.
