Innovative design, price declines and the never-ending desire to lighten the load are driving road warriors to shed their overweight laptops and projectors in favor of a new generation of low-fat ultra-portables. For several years now, business presenters have been on a crash diet. And it's working. Not since the days when road warriors hit the highway with little more than a stack of business cards, a box of brochures and a carousel of slides have mobile presenters felt so svelte or traveled with such grace. But it hasn't been easy. Before portable computers, clients expected a basic sales meeting with maybe a data sheet or two. Even as visual communications expectations rose in the early days of Microsoft's PowerPoint, electronically created presentations were mostly output to print, 35 mm slides or overhead transparencies, a process that added minimal poundage on the road.
