Sonus Networks sold debt to its dearest customer. Was it shrewd business or just revenue puffery? Sonus networks scored a coup in July when it landed a contract to sell phone switches to BellSouth. Sonus makes soft switches, inexpensive computer-based switches that can replace costly traditional circuit switches. Until now big carriers have shunned the new gear and stuck with costly but reliable circuit switches.
