The continuing expan-sion of Latvia's econ-omy bodes well for the future. Latvia's overall economic performance has been among the best in the EU accession countries for several years. Last year GDP increased by around 7 percent, and the forecast is for a similar rise this year. With new markets to tap in the EU, the outlook is promising. Much of the growth is expected to be in manufacturing, construction, transport, storage and communications. The services sector is also expanding, fuelled by tourism and transport.
