One symptom of how cantankerous times have become is the growth of prosecutorial abuse. Going after the Enrons and Dennis Kozlowskis of the world is one thing. But what appears to be happening all too frequently is that prosecutors pursue cases that are flimsy or brazenly try to change the rules so that the accused is put at a disadvantage in the courtroom.
