To get to Park Falls fly to Minneapolis, then drive 3.5 hours northeast. Private planes can land at Price County Airport in Phillips, 15 miles from Park Falls. The Ruffed Grouse Lodge (715-339-4444) has four lodge rooms plus a lakefront cabin ($145 and S100 per night, respectively, two-night minimum). Canoe Bay, the only five-star inn in the Midwest, is two hours southwest in Chetek; rooms are $350 to $550 a night. For $550 a day you can hunt with Terry Ides of Ides Guides from 8 a.m. until dark to try to bag your legal limit of five grouse. For dinner try the Cabin at Connors Lake. Hunting licenses can be obtained from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
