Tort lawyers ("Looking for Mass Torts," June 2, p. 54) are a breed of semihumans most closely related to buzzards, jackals and various species of cannibals. The ultimate cost of their rapaciousness is something the rest of us must pay every day of our lives, whether we buy a loaf of bread, a bottle of medicine or an automobile. Some doctors must pay over $100,000 a year for insurance to fend off the legal vultures. And we wonder why medical costs in this country are so obscenely high. The 315 thugs who attended the Las Vegas meeting, and others like them, should be confined like hungry wolves behind sturdy bars that separate them from civil society.
