With a history dating back to the 17th century in the Japanese city of Noda, Chiba Prefecture, Kikkoman Corporation has an indisputable pedigree as Japan's premium soy sauce maker. A centuries-old woodblock print hanging on the wall of the Kikkoman Soy Sauce Museum at the Noda plant depicts wealthy patrons in kimonos buying wooden barrels of premium soy sauce while workers heap soybeans, wheat, water and salt into huge vats.
