摘要

Observational studies have found that habitually barefoot populations tend to have stronger feet, lower incidence of flat foot, and decreased lower extremity injury rates compared to traditionally shod populations (Holowka et al., 2018). Interventional studies in shod populations have found that when they transition from walking in supportive shoes to minimalist shoes, they experience some of these same benefits, including increased foot muscle strength (Ridge et al., 2019) and medial longitudinal arch (MLA) control (Campitelli et al., 2016). However, the mechanisms causing these changes are unclear.
