The Leaning of the American Diet

The aging baby boomer population bulge is fighting a battle of the bulge around its waist. America, the land of the fat- free and the home of the fad diet. At no time in human history has a population been so blessed with nutritional plenty and so weighed down by it. A staggering variety of food choices and stable prices make it easy for all but the poorest citizen to consume far beyond the body's need for sustenance. But, alas, the blessing of abundance isn't matched by the blessing of self-control.
